The entire world is enduring the pain of soaring oil prices. Depletion of energy resources as well as the resulting shortage has been long predicted. In spite of countries across the world making great efforts to resolve this issue, they have not been able to find a satisfactory replacement. The situation is even more serious for Korea because it ranks as the world’s No. 10 in energy consumption and import almost all of the fuel it consumes. Overcoming this crisis requires more efficient energy use. In this regard, ways to save energy that can be easily put into practice by all Korean people in their every day lives are suggested through a new stamp.

Against these tranquil tones, scenes of lifeguards exploding into action are a sudden contrast. There’s no mistaking the message—even placid waters can be deadly for the unprepared.

On the 8-24th of August 2008, XXIX Olympic games will take place in Beijing, China. Representatives of 28 sports will contest for 302 sets of medals. In the opening ceremony organizers are expecting to see the flags of 205 national Olympic committees and that would be a record of all Olympics ever. Lithuanian flag, of course, will also be there. The sports delegation of our country will consist of 70 athletes, which is a new record of Lithuania.

NATIONAL HERITAGE – Spain

Two souvenir sheets are devoted to the National Heritage (Patrimonio Nacional) issue depicting two tapestries “The swing” and “The blind man and the guitar” both made from tapestry cartoons by Goya with the thematic know as “Custom paintings”. These two tapestries, manufactured by the Real Fábrica de Madrid, were woven under the supervision of Cornelio Vandergoten, descendant of a family of master upholsterers from Antwerp whom in 1774 was in charge of the factory. Goya began making cartoons for the Real Fábrica in 1775 and did the portrait of Vandergoten, now exhibited in the Prado Museum, as director of this tapestry institution until 1782.
