Today is the first day of most awaiting event “STAMPMANIA 2009″, the first one frame national philatelic exhibition. We are here to give you all the updates of the exhibition directly from Baroda.
The event started with the heritage walk through stamps of India. It was flagged off by Ms. Karuna Pillai, Chief Postmaster General of Gujarat Circle, from Head post office Vadodara at 2:00 pm to move upto Kirti Mandir.
A Bullock Tram carrying a special cover from Head post office to exhibition venue was a special attraction. It shows the earlier postal system of Vadodara. Bullock Tram service, carrying posts was started by Maharaja Khanderao between Miyagam and Dabhoi.
Many school children, employees of post and philatelists, holding banners depicting stamp and postal services of India post, took part in the heritage walk.
A traditional dance showing the Indian culture was adding colors to the heritage walk. The performance was amazing, attracting all the people passing by.
The heritage walk was concluded at Kirti Mandir. A Chilled ice-cream was served for refreshment and people dispersed to meet at opening ceremony at 5:30 pm.
