Austrian Armed Forces – 50 Years of Missions Abroad


The Federal Ministry for National Defence and Sport (FMNDS) celebrates a very special anniversary in 2010: 50 years of Austrian Army missions abroad.

The Field Hospital in the Congo (as part of the “Opérations des Nations Unies au Congo”; ONUC) from November 1960 to September 1963 was the first of many missions abroad. Since this first mission, over 90,000 Austrian soldiers have been sent on deployments abroad at the various hot spots of the world – ready to take the necessary measures to secure.

  1. Armed Forces History is very exciting as represented on stamps. I am looking for details on 15 Panjab (Patiala); 14 Panjab (Nabha Akal) ; and 16 Panjab (2nd Patiala)Battalions. Also on the Arty Regt.
