Belvedere Castle

The Belvedere in Vienna’s third district is a palace complex, which was built for Prince Eugene of Savoy by Johann Lucas von Hildebrandt (1668–1745). The Upper and Lower Belvedere – together with the Orangery, the Palace Stables and the Palace Gardens which join the two buildings – form a unique baroque ensemble, which UNESCO listed as a World Cultural Heritage Site some years ago. Nowadays the two palace buildings house the famous Belvedere art collections.
