Philatelists Association of Indonesia along with the support of Federation of Internationale de Philatelie had organized the World Stamp Competition nicknamed “INDONESIA 2012″ from 18 to 24 June 2012 at the Jakarta Convention Center, Jakarta.

The show theme “Bridging the World of Peace Through Stamp” is to inspire the effort of world societies in achieving the eternal peace all over the world. More and more we realize that stamp has changed its track from merely a mean of showing payment of mail delivery to valuable collectible items.

“Indonesia 2012″ is expected to become the largest philatelic exhibition ever held in Indonesia. Earlier, Indonesia has successfully conducted philatelic exhibitions in Asia-Pacific three times, namely “Indopex ’93″ in Surabaya (1993), “Jakarta ’95″ in Jakarta (1995), and “Jakarta 2008″ in Jakarta (2008). Indonesia has also been a world philatelic exhibition organizers specifically for teens class “Indonesia ’96″ in Bandung (1996).

INDONESIA 2012 LOGO
Pigeons are known as a symbol of peace as well as a reliable courier letter was carrying an envelope. All around there are plants that represent the ecosystem that we must protect. Entirely described by the batik style.

INDONESIA 2012 MASCOT
The mascot of INDONESIA 2012 is respresented by a prehistoric reptile species called Komodo (Varanus Komodoensis).
The endangered species first lived during the time of dinosaurus millions of years ago and amazingly has survived until today on the island of Komodo, as well as neighbouring island of Rinca, Padar and West Flores of East Nusa Tenggara, Indonesia. The mascot shows a Komodo Wearing ‘kain tenunan ikat’ or local traditional hand-woven material and holding a magnifying glass.

Turkish Postal Authority have organized an International Philatelic Exhibition – Istanbul 2010 to be held over 5-15 December , 2010.

They will be displaying a 100-year cross section of the Ottoman and Turkish collections between 1840 and 1940 , a compilation that no one person or even institution can possibly put together. Most of the collections to be exhibited have won gold or grand gold medals at international competitions.

This exhibition alto constitutes proof that the current accomplishments of PTT, the Turkish Postal Authority, which is marking the 170th anniversary of its establishment nowadays , are no accident.

The Postal Administration was undoubtedly one of the most sophisticated institutions of the Ottoman Empire. Our research has established that there were about 3,500 different post offices operating within the Empire. The post offices of the Empire and its natural heir, the Turkish Republic , no doubt witnessed important historical events throughout the world.

All collectors are requested to spare time to visit this unique and probably one-time exhibition over 5-15 December,2010.

It benefits from the patronage of the Federation of European Philatelic Associations (FEPA) and is recognised by the Federation Internationale de Philatelie (FIP).

The patronage of FEPA and the recognition of FIP will make PHILALUX 2011 a part of the international philatelic and cultural life and it will create new human relations and deepen existing friendships.

Philatelic exhibitions have a long tradition in the Grand Duchy of Luxembourg: the first took place in 1952 and since then, roughly every 10 years, P&TLuxembourg and the FSPL have had the honor of offering to philatelists and the general public an occasion to celebrate the magnificent pastime that collecting postage stamps represents. The last international exhibition of this type in Luxembourg goes back to 1998 with the organization of the JUVALUX philatelic exhibition for youths which exhibitors present at the time still remember today.

The PHILALUX 2011 exhibition will be a unique occasion to measure once again the interest the inhabitants of the Grande Region have for philately.

Very high quality European stamp collections will attract a large and interested public. To generate even more attention from the public and the media, P&TLuxembourg will present a special program of new stamp issues during the exhibition. In addition, the organisers will take advantage of PHILALUX 2011 to launch an extensive communication and promotional campaign relating to philately. This campaign will last more than six months and will target the entire « Grande Region ». The effort in communication about philately together with the presence many postal enterprises and stamp dealers will act as a stimulus for philately.

Exhibition Dates: 28 April 2011 to 1 May 2011

Opening Hours:

Stanley Gibbons recently acquired the mythological 1904 6d Pale Dull Purple (I.R. Official) which is on display on their stand (Number 79) at the London 2010 International Stamp Exhibition at the Business Design Centre, London until Saturday 15th May.

Issued on 14 May 1904, the Edward VII 6d purple, overprinted I.R. Official, has earned the handle “Britain’s rarest stamp” due to the fact that it was issued on the very day that an official order came into effect withdrawing all official stamps from use.

The only known examples of this stamp in existence today belong to the Royal Collection and one or two museums such as the National Postal Museum.

‘Examples of this rarity just don’t come on to the open market’ said Stanley Gibbons Director of Great Britain Stamps, Vince Cordell.

This wonderful philatelic treasure is the key stamp for any collector hoping to build a complete collection of Great Britain.

‘This is an extraordinary opportunity to acquire one of the rarest and most coveted stamps in the world’ said Mr Cordell.

This stamp is the only known example to have been in private hands, which came from a collection in Switzerland in the 1950s and has been passed from one private collection to another before being offered to Stanley Gibbons earlier this year.

For these reasons, the 6d I.R. Official has become known as a ‘mythological’ stamp. Collectors from around the world, visiting the London 2010 International Stamp exhibition have been fascinated by this rarity on the Stanley Gibbons stand.

‘It’s great to see people’s eyes widen when they see we have the 6d I.R. Official here on the stand. They can see that it really is here and we do have it for sale’ said Stanley Gibbons Director of Group Sales and Marketing, Keith Heddle.

So far no one has parted with the £375,000 needed to own Britain’s rarest stamp but collectors around the world are enjoying the spectacle of seeing this rare philatelic treasure for themselves.
