World Judo Championships

The World Judo Championships will be held from 24 to 28 August 2011 at Paris Bercy. Railway Provence – Train Pignes

The Railways of Provence, formerly “Railways of the South of France” is made up of three rail networks. One of them, the network of the Alps, was one of the lines between Nice and Digne-les-Bains and was completed in 1911.
Now under the authority of the PACA region, it is the only remained in operation and carries more than 400,000 passengers per year. Its role is twofold: Nice suburban service and tourist transportation in the hinterland with the “train of Pignes” steam. The line will soon have a new modern railcar.

World Fencing Championship

French post issued a set of stamps of World Fencing Championship.

Sports emblematic of the era of chivalry, fencing has become, in recent centuries, a combat sport subtle, precise, elegant, and an artistic practice and play. The three weapons of fencing (epee, foil and saber) and a fencer disabled sports are represented here on two stamps. The vignette, meanwhile, illustrates the canopy of the Grand Palace which hosts the championship.

150 Years of the Alliance Israelite Universelle

French post issued a postage stamp to celebrate 150 Years of the Alliance Israelite Universelle. The Alliance Israelite Universelle, international cultural Jewish society of French origin was established in 1860.

His action calls for a synthesis of the ideals of 1789 and the principles of Judaism. It lies in the field of education and Jewish culture through the dissemination of Judaism’s tradition, tolerant and open to the modern world and the struggle for equal rights – not only for Jews, but for all religious minorities. The IAU has a network of schools in France and abroad.

It also helps to promote the French language and culture abroad. The visual symbolizes the values of the IAU through two young students learn writing the word in Hebrew, Arabic and French.

Butterflies – France

French post issued a souvenir sheet featuring various butterflies as a block of stamps of Nature 2010.

The butterfly is considered a symbol of grace and lightness. It also symbolizes the resurrection, the sun in the Aztec women in Japan, and is married to the soul love in Greek mythology. It has always amazed and inspired men, in painting, poetry.

The copper marshes, the blue morpho and Thecla of bramble each illustrate a block of stamps of Nature, 2010, the fourth stamp is dedicated to the caterpillar’s big forked tail. The moth in the adult form is characterized by two pairs of wings covered with scales fines.

The Youth Olympic Games (YOG) was created in 2007 by the International Olympic Committee (IOC) and the first summer games in 2010 will be held in Singapore from 14 to 26 August 2010.A through its YOG, the objective IOC is to promote sport for young people and raise awareness of the Olympic values – brotherhood, universality, peace – and societal issues – lifestyle, media, environment, nutrition … This event is not just about sport but also education and culture.

As young athletes from 14-18 years participating in competitive sports but also in seminars and educational forums on the social values through sport.
