In the heyday of the Roman Empire, the circus was one of the most accessible and popular forms of entertainment. Mode of existence and organization of joint activities as the circus bears the mark of defining temperament various peoples and continents.

In ancient Rome, “Circus”, meaning circle or ring, defined spaces such as the specific events of that time were carried out: soldiers were scrambling to demonstrate the qualities of great fighters, training of animals, etc. After the fall of the Roman Empire, was present on the circus in Europe, because organized groups of actors who were present with their performances, especially at fairs in cities.

In Saxony the Middle Ages, people saw in these nomads and an important source that could provide information about what is happening in the world as street performers sang, told stories and, most often brought news from other cities. After invading Normans, Saxons came into the world of circus juggling that, first, fell in popularity of minstrels. Subsequently, circus actors have learned to combine the styles of performances and to share their tricks of skill.

Romanian circus history starts in 1874 in Bucharest, the first being the local circus circus Sidol on current place of Brewers founded Gambrinus IL Caragiale.

Circus Romanian art in changing and upgrading from 1954 conversion experience a new visibility. By acquiring the State Circus Krateyl were founded Circus and its building in Bucharest, built in 1961, was one of the largest in Europe at that time, hosting large-scale performances.

The period between 1960 and 1970 was beneficial acrobatic art development, the jugglers and the circus default. Romanian artists, jugglers stood out on the stages of many countries manifested as talented acrobats, balancing, magicians, very appreciated by spectators.
