Jersey Post will issue its Europa 2010 stamp issue – Children’s Books – and will interpret PostEurop’s theme by featuring a set of stamps depicting characters from some well-known children’s books and tales written by Hugh Lofting, Rudyard Kipling, Lewis Carroll and Edward Lear.
The Europa logo will appear on two stamps only. During the printing process, special luminous ink was applied to the 80p value stamp to enhance the end of the Dong’s strap-on nose and really bring to life the tale portrayed on the stamp – the nose ‘glows in the dark’. ‘The Owl and the Pussycat’ by Edward Lear appears on the First Day Cover envelope and the Presentation Pack shows an open book with many well known characters from children’s favourite stories leaping out from the pages.
