History of Russian Railway staff uniforms through stamps

Russia post issued a set of stamps dedicated to Russian Railway staff uniforms as a part of special stamps series History of Russian uniform.

As a part of series of History of Russian uniform previously issued stamps are the Russian police Uniform in 2013

The stamps features various changes in the Russian Railway staff uniforms since 1843 to 2015. The stamps shows uniforms of:
– General and the conductor of the Office of Communications (1843)
– Head of the depot and driver 2nd class (1952)
– Head of the roads and the conductor (1979)
– Head of the train and the conductor of the passenger car (2015)

Russian Railway staff uniforms

History shaped costume is inextricably linked with the emergence and formation of the rail industry and training at various levels.

In 1809, according to the manifesto of Emperor Alexander I established General Directorate of Water and Land Communications based Corps of Engineers and the Institute of Communications.

For employees, departments and cadets of the institution created a special outfit.

Since 1855 there are big changes in the cut regimental uniform of all employees Ministry of Railways.

By 1873, Russia had established more than 50 joint-stock railway companies, each of which has introduced a form for employees.
