Austria post issued a postage stamp to honor one of the key monarchs of the age, Maria Theresia.
Maria Theresa of Austria (1717-1780), a monarch from the House of Hapsburg, sovereign Archduchess of Austria and Queen of Hungary and Bohemia, was without doubt one of the key monarchs of the age of enlightened absolutism.
She was the wife of the Holy Roman Emperor Francis Stephen I, and mother of the later Holy Roman Emperor Joseph II, whom she raised to the rank of co-ruler in 1765, and his successor Leopold II. The impressive image on the stamp shows one of the most famous portraits of Maria.
