Musical Instruments stamps to mark THAIPEX 2015

Thailand post issued a set of four special stamps to mark the opening of The National Stamp Exhibition, THAIPEX 2015, held from 3 to 9 August 2015 at Bang Rak, Thailand.

The stamps features the personal musical instruments of HRH Princess Maha Chakri Sirindhorn showing her genius talent in playing all kinds of Thai traditional instruments.

The musical instruments depicted on stamps are Saw (Thai fiddle), Khongwongyai (a gong circle); and Ranat (xylophone), especially RanatEk to xylophone).

THAIPEX 2015

The National Stamp Exhibition, THAIPEX was formerly held every two years from 1971 onwards. The last event was held in 2011.

It ceased in 2013 because the World Stamp Exhibition was held in that year instead.

The latest event was held from 3-9 August 2015 at Grand Postal Building, Bang Rak, presided over by HRH Princess Maha Chakri Sirindhorn on this 4 August.

The theme for THAIPEX 2015 is “Stamp Beyond Frontier”, the week-long event will feature many activities for stamp lovers.

The exhibition features several stamps dedicated to the popular member of the Thai Royal Family as a part of celebration of the 60th birthday of HRH Princess Maha Chakri Sirindhorn.

A special Joint issue stamp of 10 ASEAN member countries to mark 48 years of ASEAN also displayed during the exhibition.
