Australia post issued Christmas stamps which features two stamps with a religious theme and three that focus on the more secular elements of Christmas.

The beautiful religious stamps show two episodes from the Biblical story. In the 55c stamp the Virgin Mary, dressed in her traditional deep blue robe, gazes tenderly at the newborn baby Jesus. In the $1.50 stamp, the three Kings or Wise Men, Caspar, Melchior and Balthazar, are shown journeying from the east to Bethlehem in order to worship the Christ Child.

Following a visit to Australia by President Lee Myung-bak in March 2009, this year has been declared a Year of Friendship between Australia and South Korea to mark the 50th anniversary of diplomatic relations. The 2011 Year of Friendship builds on the professional, community and institutional links between Australia and Korea to enhance mutual understanding, friendship and goodwill. It also helps to project a well-informed, contemporary image of Australia in Korea.

The year 2011 is a meaningful year that marks the 50th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Korea and Australia. Australia participated in the Korean War in 1950 as a member of the UN forces. During the past 50 years since the establishment of diplomatic ties in 1961, the two countries have solidified their friendship and amity through active exchanges in various areas such as politics, economy, culture, society, etc. In celebration and commemoration of this 50th anniversary, Korea Post and Australia Post are issuing a joint stamp featuring traditional musical instruments of the two countries – the Haegeum of Korea and Didgeridoo of Australia.

Jersey Post has issued the third set in the series of postage stamps entitled ‘Jersey Scenery’. The six stamps will feature photographs of some of the Island’s beautiful landscapes and landmarks. One stamp within the set will also be included in the Small European Postal Administrations Corporations (SEPAC) joint issue and will feature the SEPAC logo.

It was 30 years ago, during the summer of 1981, that the American medical authorities officially recognised a mysterious pneumonia and a rare skin cancer. Two years later, Professor Luc Montagnier and researcher Françoise Barré-Sinoussi discovered the virus responsible for AIDS.
In 30 years, 25 to 30 million people across the world have died as the result of serious illnesses related to the AIDS virus. Today, more than 33 million people are infected with HIV.

The Mir Castle is a unique monument of Belarusian architecture of the 16th century. Its construction was initiated by the Belarusian magnate Yuri Ilinich in 1520-ies. Being one of the best examples of the Belarusian fortress building engineering of the 16th century the Mir Castle had for many centuries been used as a residence for Belarusian magnates. Now the Mir Castle is a branch of the National Art Museum of the Republic of Belarus. In 2000 the Mir Castle was included into the UNESCO World Heritage List.
