Singapore Youth Festival 50th Anniversary
The Singapore Youth Festival (SYF) is an annual event in Singapore to celebrate the achievements of youths in co-curricular activities.
Celebrating its 50th year with the theme YOUTHforia!, the annual SYF remains one of the most important platforms that celebrates the rich diversity of youth talent in schools in Singapore.
The Singapore Youth Festival started in 1966 and the first President of Singapore Yusof Ishak officially launched on 18 July 1967.
Furthermore, the first SFY involved 24,000 students from primary and secondary schools in a two-week celebration.
It has metamorphosed into an annual kaleidoscopic showcase of talents involving more than 40,000 students in the month of July.
SYF 2016 seeks to offer more opportunities for youths in Singapore beyond various backstage and off-stage performances.
It also provides them with rich, authentic opportunities for learning and growth.
It has been a fiesta for building friendship, strengthening bonds and honing skills.
SingPost’s previous SYF stamp issue was in 1976 to commemorate the 10th Anniversary of the SYF.
That stamp set featured the essence of three popular youth activities – Inter-School Band, Track and Field, and Music and Dance.
