The historic pipe organ featured on Polish stamp

Polish post issued a special miniature sheet featuring the historic pipe organ of the Cistercian monastery in Jedrzejow, Poland.

The Pipe organ in Jedrzejow is one of the most important monuments of its kind in Europe with no equivalent in the world.

The block consists of two stamps making one complete image of the historic pipe organ.

Jedrzejow – Abbey is famous for its magnificent pipe organ with a unique sound. The original pipe organ built in 1633.

A tool, which today is located in the monastery church, dates from the years 1745-1760. It was built by organo-master Joseph Sitarski in cooperation with Ignacy Fogler from Warsaw.

Rich decoration carved is made by Korneckich brothers in the workshop of Krakow. Housing authorities joinery workshop is the work of the Cistercian.

Early Rococo prospectus, all blue with numerous gilded creates a wonderful architectural decoration. Main section in the form of a concave semicircle, filling the width of the western bays of the nave of the church is made up of six members wiezyczkowych in a symmetrical arrangement, which are semicircular projections forward of akantowo floral decoration.

The unit is placed on suspended, undulating entablature. Positive imitating a box is supported by spiral consoles mounted on ornately shaped pillar.

Pipe organ in Jedrzejow preserved almost completely in his old form. Have unique technical solutions.

The instrument has 42 voices, 4 manuals and pedal. Sliding from the manual associated with positive keyboard is used to automatically transpose the music performed on whole tone lower.

This solution is extremely rare, and forged in bronze registration keys have no equivalent in the world. Pipe organ in Jedrzejow are one of the most important monuments of its kind in Europe (former model, which was used in organ building Oliwa Cathedral), and therefore attracts not only tourists, but also artists-musicians.

Since 1995 in Jedrzejow monastery hosts the International Festival of Organ and Chamber Music, which brings together well-known artists from all over the world, including from Italy, Belgium, Austria, USA, Canada.
