World Post Day 2015 Malaysia

World Post Day is celebrated every year since 1969, on 9 October, the anniversary of establishment of the UPU (Universal Postal Union).

Malaysia post issued a stamp to mark the World Post Day (WPD) which features the special WPD logo and the UPU logo.

World Post Day

The Universal Postal Union (UPU) was established in 1874 in the Swiss capital, Berne. It was declared World Post Day by the UPU Congress held in Tokyo, Japan, in 1969.

The purpose of WPD is to create awareness of the role of the postal sector in people’s and businesses’ everyday lives and its contribution to the social and economic development of countries.

The post offices across the world celebrate this special day various ways including special philatelic exhibitions, introducing new products and services, special stamps and cancellation marks, workshops and more…
